Real Business Case Studies on Gender Equality in the Tech & Cyber Sectors
Real business stories make the greatest impact and engage the most and by unveiling the challenges others experience, they help us all build new models for greater success - and change. In May, The Content Maven's, Alison Prangnell, joined the Rela8 Group to chair a round table on women in tech and got to watch a bit of the Women's FA Cup too!
The tech industries still remain largely male-dominated spaces. Discussions around 'Women in Tech' have grown over recent years but as history shows, while work is ongoing to address these inequalities and embedded cultures, change doesn't happen overnight.
Alison led the discussion between a group of female industry heads (CISOs, CTOs, CIOs) from across the tech sectors to explore the realities of being leaders in their sectors and industries and what business and organisations should be doing to help attract a higher percentage of women into the sector.
We discussed career routes, support, expectations (from ourselves as women as well as in wider business), the challenges of attracting and retaining women in the industry through their careers, the difference between the expectations and experiences of Gen Z and Gen X (both male and female), modelling and mentorship, collaborating with men and importantly, how we must be careful to be conscious of not perpetuating the historical bias (where gender expectations are changing) just because we had to fight harder to get to where we are.
